O istorie cu gust de kiwi / A kiwi flavored history
In 2023 I illustrated a book by author Adina Rosetti for Editura Arthur
and it was one of my favorite projects so far.
We are in Romania in 1990. Many changes take place in Ada's life: at school she no longer addresses the teacher as "comrade", and Ceausescu's portrait has disappeared from the wall. At home, the food is more varied, although the cheese tastes like rubber. And she has so much to talk about with her colleagues: what surprise they found in their pack of gum, what flavor of juice they preferred, what exotic fruit appeared in the fruit bowl in the kitchen and much more. Perhaps the most important is the answer to "Who do you like in your class?", the question from the Oracle that arouses most emotions and giggles among the students.
Just when things seem to have settled down, Ada is hurriedly taken away by her father in the middle of a party. On the streets of the city, the atmosphere is tense: the attempt to chase away the demonstrators from the University Square has turned into a nightmare, and the way home is guided by fear.
